Manipur gets the tallest railway bridge in the world

A special development has taken place in Manipur over the last couple of days in an attempt to make travel easier within the state. A bridge is being built near Noney called the Noney Bridge across river Ijai. The bridge is built built on a height of 141 metre and it will break the tallest bridge record of existing Mala-Rijeka in Europe.

The 111 kilometre long Noney Bridge will connect Jiribam, Tupul, and Imphal and will have more than 45 tunnels. The longest railways tunnel will be 10.280 kilometre long making it the longest in the North East.

The bridge will make travelling to other states of India easier and more convenient. The total length of the bridge is estimated to be 703 metres. As per the current stage of the bridge construction, the pillars are ready, and now the piers are being constructed with the help of hydraulic drills for smooth and safe construction. It is expected to be complete by the year 2020.
