The government has asked the people to refrain from keeping or carrying Indian bank notes higher than Rs 100 denomination as it has not legalised them, The Kathmandu Post quoted Gokul Prasad Baskota as saying.

The new notes have been in use in Nepal since they were introduced by the Indian govt, post demonetisation in 2016, though only Rs 100 note was legalised by the Nepal Government.

This decision is expected to affect the middle and low-income Indian tourists who travel to Nepal frequently and also Nepalese labourers working in India.
