Sanjay Barve appointed as new Commissioner of Police Mumbai

Sanjay Barve, the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), is appointed as the new Mumbai Police Commissioner on Thursday.

While, the present Mumbai Police Commissioner Subodh Jaiswal is transferred as the Director General of Police, Maharashtra.

Sanjay Barve is a 1986-batch IPS officer. He was made director general of Anti-Corruption Bureau last year. He had in the past served as joint commissioner of police (Traffic) in Mumbai and State Intelligence Department commissioner.

Sanjay Barve, Param Bir Singh and Dr K Venkatesham were said to be the top contenders.
