Grenade attack at Jammu bus stand: two dead, 32 injured; culprit arrested

A grenade attack took place at Jammu bus stand on Thursday morning. Two people died and 32 injured were admitted to hospital. The police suspect the involvement of militant group Hizbul Mujahideen and have apprehended a youth from Anantnafor questioning.

“Teams were constituted to work on leads, CCTV camera footage examined, based on oral testimony of witnesses we were able to identify a suspect. He was detained, his name is Yasir Bhatt, he has confessed to the crime,” J&K Police’s Manish K Sinha told media at a presser.

In a statement, the police mentioned that the grenade was placed under the bus at the bus stand. The area was cordoned off by security personnel. The police have now been collating on ground data and an investigation is underway.

This is the third grenade attack in the city since May last year.

The attack comes around three weeks after the dastardly Pulwama attack. The Indian Air Force carried out air strikes on the biggest terror camp of Jaish-e Mohammad in Pakistan’s Balakot, ten days after the Pulwama attack.
