Did 350 people convert to Islam in New Zealand? Here’s the truth

Date:

After the mass shootings at two Christchurch mosques that killed 50 people, a video is going viral on social media.

It claims that 350 people accepted Islam in New Zealand following the attack.
“#ALLAH_HU_AKBAR
50 Muslims were killed on Friday in New Zealand & 350 people accepted #Islam today in #NewZealand” the caption read.

FACT CHECK

When we took the screenshot of the video and put it through a reverse image search tool, we found a video uploaded in 2007.

The title of the video read – “5 Germans Converted To ISLAM”

This proves that the video is old and is being circulated again. However, as far as the claim is concerned, there are no reports of any such mass conversions in New Zealand.
