Delhi Metro Phase IV plan delayed due to funding issue

Date:

A funding dispute took place between the Centre and Delhi government and has obstructed the expansion of Delhi Metro’s Phase IV. Ironically, the project was approved after 2 years by the Union Cabinet in March.

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot directed his team of DMRC to not work on Phase IV until further clarifications as per reports.

“The matter was brought to my notice when DMRC wrote to the Delhi government seeking Rs 200 crore to start initial works on the project. As per DMRC’s new funding plan, after the Centre cleared the three routes, the share of Delhi government increased to Rs 7,844.70 crore from Rs 5,994.50 crore that was earlier approved by the state cabinet for the same lines”, as reported.

The deadline has now been extended by 2 years and extended to December 2024.
