IPL 2019: Mumbai Indians aim to gain momentum and break CSK’s winning streak

Date:

It is going to be a chilling Wednesday evening as the two most successful teams in the Indian Premier League – Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians – will take on each other at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Table-toppers Super Kings is the only undefeated team in the competition so far, while the Mumbai Indians have a single win from their three matches stood at the seventh position above RCB.

In their most recent outing, the Super Kings got the better of the Rajasthan Royals at home. MS Dhoni played the rescue act and powered his team to a competitive total after which the CSK bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals to deny the Royals. It augurs well for CSK that they’ve had the different match-winners in their three matches; if Harbhajan Singh won the Man of the match in the season opener, Shane Watson won the award in the win against the Delhi Capitals. Most recently, Dhoni walked away with the award after turning the clock back with vintage innings.

Mumbai’s only win so far this season was against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In their previous match, they lost to Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. MI’s batting had been disappointing in their three matches; even in the match against RCB, it took two fantastic overs at the death from JaspritBumrah and Lasith Malinga to earn them their first points of the season.

While the Super Kings will look to continue doing all the good things they’ve done in the three matches, the Mumbai Indians need to put on a better show with both bat and ball.
