Congress favours scrapping sedition law to strengthen stone pelting in J&K: PM Modi

Date:

Launching a scathing attack on Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the party wants to remove the sedition law to ensure ‘strengthening’ of stone pelting in Jammu and Kashmir and Naxalism in rest of the places in the country.

While addressing a rally in Gujarat’s Anand, PM Modi also said that the ongoing elections will decide whether nationalist forces will rule the country or those who want to help the ‘tukde tukde gang’ (anti-India forces) by scrapping the sedition law.

“Congress has said in its manifesto that it wants to remove the sedition law, so that stone pelting in J-K and Naxalism in rest of the places in the country can be strengthened, tukde tukde gang desh ke tukde karne ki apni shararatein khule aam kar paayein,” he said.

Referring to National Conference (NC) leader Muhammad Akbar Lone’s statement that he will retaliate against those who hurl abuses at Pakistan, Modi said, “In Kashmir, a Congress ally says that ‘if anyone abuses Pakistan, I will abuse India even more.’ Congress is standing with such people, can any citizen of Gujarat do the mistake of voting for such people?”

Lone, who is also NC’s candidate from Kupwara parliamentary seat, raised pro-Pakistan slogans.

Gujarat will go to polls on April 23 in a single phase for all 26 Lok Sabha seats. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
