Did Navjot Singh Sidhu get thrashed in Punjab? Here’s the fact check

A picture is making rounds on social media in which it is claimed that Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu along with other workers were thrashed in Punjab.

The caption of the picture says, “ठोको ठोको ताली ठोको (सिद्धू) कांग्रेसियों की धुलाई पंजाब मे 😅😅😅 IPL T20 के छक्के लगे”

(Translation- Clap clap(Sidhu) Congress workers got beaten up in Punjab. Got IPL T20 sixes)

We found the same picture with similar claims-

FACT CHECK

Team of fact-checkers at NewsMobile checked the viral picture and found that the claim attached to the photo is FAKE.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found the original picture on Hindustan Times.

The photo was taken on September 25, 2016 during a bike rally, led by District Congress Committee (rural) president Gurjit Singh Aujla.

The above information proves that the person in the photo is not Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu.
