Fact Checked: The man in the booth capturing video is not a BJP or Congress MLA

A video is going viral on social media in which a man can be seen going into the polling booth with the voters.

The caption accompanying the video claims that the man in the video is BJP MLA, Anil Upadhyay.

“*BJP विधायक अनिल* *उपाध्याय की इस हरकत पर क्या कहेगे MODI जी,*
*इस video को इतना वायरल करो की ये पूरा हिन्दुस्तान देख सके..*” the caption read.

The same video was shared with the claim that the man is “Congress MLA Anil Upadhyay”

We also found the same video on YouTube.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked this claim, we found out that the claim is false. The man in the video is not from BJP or Congress but he a TMC worker.

We took out the frames from the video and then put them through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to a video that claimed that the incident that took place in West Bengal.

A search with the keywords “West Bengal booth capture” led us to several more videos.

We also found a bulletin by NewsMobile partner Republic TV. The title of the broadcast read ” SHOCKING! Booth Capturing By TMC In Islampur | Caught On Camera

This proves that the claim attached to the video is false.
