Hyundai launches the Venue in India with prices starting from Rs 6.50 lakh

Date:

The Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV, one of the most awaited cars of this year, has finally been launched in India, with an initial price tag of Rs 6.50 lakh for the base petrol version, going up to Rs 11.10 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India) for the range-topping automatic variant. However, Hyundai Venue on road price goes approximately up to Rs 7.34 lakh to Rs 12.95 lakh (on-road Delhi).

The Venue made its global debut last month in India as well as the US and garnered over 2000 pre-bookings in a single day, promising a strong start for the SUV. Deliveries will begin by later this in May.

BODY AND LOOKS

The Venue looks small yet butch and there is a resemblance to the Creta too at the sides. It stands 3995mm long, 1770 mm wide, 1590 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2500 mm.

The design language is inspired from the newer Hyundai models with the massive cascading grille up front, split headlamps with projector lens and squared LED DRLs, tall stance and stubby boot design.

The Venue is offered in four variants, seven monotone colours and three dual-tone colour options.

ENGINE

The Hyundai Venue is powered by two petrol and one diesel engine options. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor churns out 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a dual-clutch transmission while a six-speed manual is also on offer. There’s also the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill belting out 82 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque, which is paired with only a 5-speed manual transmission. Lastly, the 1.4-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel produces 89 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. A diesel automatic is not on offer.

FEATURES

The Hyundai Venue is loaded with a host of features and gets a bunch of equipment including an electric sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, Arkamys sound system, air purifier, wireless charging and wheel air curtains.

The big one is the Connected Car tag on the Venue that comes from the embedded eSIM for the connected tech that Hyundai calls BlueLink. The new feature offers access to functions like remote start, climate control, geofencing, SOS alert, Indian-accented English voice assist system and much more.

The eSIM is powered by Vodafone-Idea. Safety tech is in abundance as well on the sub 4-metre SUV and includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with reverse camera, ESC, Hill Launch Assist and more.

COMPETITION

The Hyundai Venue will be launched in the market as a direct competition to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and the Ford Ecosport.
