Azam Khan didn’t make this statement about muslims; here’s the fact check

A picture post is doing rounds on social media in which has a quote attributed to Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan.

The text in Hindi on the picture read: “हिन्दू नेता चाहे कितनी भी बार मुस्लिम टोपी पहने लकिन हम मुस्लिम नेता तिलक नहीं लगाएंगे | हिन्दू चाहे नमाज़ को कितनी भी इज्जत दे लेकिन हूँ मुस्लमान वंदे मातरम का बहिष्कार ज़रूर करेंगे | क्योकि इस्लाम में धर्मनिरपेक्षता और देशभक्ति दोनों हराम है,” आज़म खान 

(Translation: “Even though many Hindu leaders are wearing Muslim cap but we will not make Tilak Muslim leaders.” Even if Hindus respect Namaz, but Muslims will boycott Vande Mataram because both secularism and patriotism in Islam are haram, “Azam Khan)

The above post on a Facebook group R.S.S. (राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ) was shared by over 400 members of the group.

On putting the text attributed to Azam Khan on Google, we didn’t find any reliable source confirming that the above statement was made by Lok Sabha member from Rampur.
