Fact Checked: Pak Army Spokesperson shares FAKE video of Indian Air Marshal

Date:

A video of former Indian Air Marshal Denzil Keelor has been shared by Pakistani Armed Forces Spokesperson, Major General Asif Ghafoor.

The video suggests that the latter had admitted about India’s loss in Balakot airstrike.

Ghafoor posted the video on Twitter and wrote: “Admission of Indian failure and losses on 27 February 2019 by a well-decorated Indian Airforce veteran Air Marshal Denzil Keelor.”

At the time of filing this report, the video was retweeted more than 5,800 times.

FACT CHECK

When the team of fact-checkers at NewsMobile checked the above tweet we found that Major General Asif Ghafoor had tweeted an old, doctored video.

On putting the keyframes of the video through a Reverse Image Search along with keywords such as ‘Indian Air Force’, ‘Air Marshal Denzil Keelor’, we came across the original video of the interview dated August 9th, 2015 which was years before the Balakot Airstrikes which took place in February 2019.

In the interview, Air Marshal Denzil Keelor talks about India’s war in the 1960s.

Hence, the above information proves that the video shared by Pakistan’s Major General Asif Ghafoor is false.
