Fact Checked: The man burning the national flag is not a ‘Hindu terrorist’

Date:

A picture post has surfaced on social media where a man can be seen burning the national flag.

The text accompanying the picture claims that Krishna Lal is a Hindu terrorist and he believes that India is a Hindu nation and the national flag should only be Saffron colour instead of tricolor.

“आतंकवादी श्री कृष्ण लाल भारतिय झंडे को जला रहा है। इस आतंकवादी का मानना है भारत हिन्दू राष्ट्र है यहां भगवा झंडा फहराया जाएगा तिरंगा नहीं।” the text read.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, we found the claim be fake.

When we put the image through Reverse Image Search, we found that the man, identified as M Prabhu, a teacher from Tamil Nadu, burned the flag as a sign of protest against the government.

In a video that went viral on social media, he said that he is burning the national flag in protest against the Central government as it failed to constitute the Cauvery Management Board.

An article by Satya Vijayi titled ‘School Teacher from Tamil Nadu arrested for burning the National Flag’ has featured this image.

The above information proves that the claim attached to the viral image is FAKE.
