Kazakhstan on Friday celebrates a remarkable date – Constitution Day. The adoption of the country’s main law was preceded by a wide discussion of the draft Constitution by the population of the Republic. In total, about 33 thousand collective discussions of the project took place, in which more than three million citizens participated.
During the discussions, nearly 30 thousand suggestions and comments were made. More than 1,100 amendments and additions were made to 55 articles.
The basic law adopted on August 30, 1995 at a national referendum secured the foundations of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a democratic, secular, legal and social state whose highest values are a person, his life, rights, and freedoms.
For the multinational people of Kazakhstan, the Constitution is the key to development and stability, the preservation of national values and a strong guarantor of the independence of the country.
