Twitter protests as VVIP convoy stalls traffic in rain-hit Mumbai

Date:

Mumbai is battling with the incessant rains which have caused waterlogging and traffic jams in the city.

Due to heavy rains, the administration has also closed the schools in the city and asked people to stay indoors. The traffic in the city caused by torrential rains created a huge problem for the people. However, it seems there’s no problem for VVIPs.

In a video shared on Twitter, a VVIP convoy is seen blatantly going on the wrong side of the road so it can reach fast.

“Dear @MumbaiPolice @Dev_Fadnavis When lakhs and lakhs of mumbaikars were sitting in traffic for hours and hours….who is this VIP who needs to go on the wrong side of the road so he can reach fast,” a Twitter user wrote while tagging Mumbai Police and CM Devendra Fadnavis.

It is a violation of the newly enhanced traffic rules and Mumbai Police should act against the errant VVIP convoy.

Under the new Motor Vehicles Act that kicked in on September 1, many people had to pay hefty fines for violating the new strict rules. In one of such incidents, one scooty rider was fined Rs 23,000 in Gurugram for not carrying his vehicle’s documents.

The same strictness should be applied for the VVIPs as well.
