All postpaid mobile phone services to be restored in J&K from Monday

Date:

All the postpaid mobile connections will be restored in the remaining areas of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, informed J&K Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal at a news briefing on Saturday.

“All postpaid mobile phones stand functional from Monday 12 noon in the remaining areas of J&K,” he said.

The development comes after more than two months when the government imposed a communications blackout in J&K following scrapping of Article 370 that gave special status to the state.

The Centre had revoked Article 370 on August 5 and split J&K into two Union Territories, saying the move would help ensure that people of the state get the same constitutional benefits as the rest of the country and spur development.

Earlier, the curbs on communication in several parts the state have been relaxed in a phased manner. However, mobile and internet communications in the Kashmir Valley were largely still blocked.
