Why should Delhi suffer: Arvind Kejriwal on pollution in Delhi NCR

Date:

Delhi NCR is seething under the effects of pollution and the situation is alarming now.
Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority on Friday declared a public health emergency in Delhi NCR as the air quality crossed the severe+ level. It also prohibited construction activities in the region till the morning of November 5, 2019, and banned complete cracker burning for the entire winter period.

On the other hand, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that all the schools in the national capital will be closed till November 5.
Speaking at a press conference, he addressed the concerns regarding pollution. He said, “I went to a school today and when I asked, only 15-20% children said they burst crackers. It is extremely unfortunate that on social media some opposition leaders were inciting children to burst more crackers.”

Earlier in the day Union Minister Prakash Javadekar had accused CM Kejriwal of playing political games in pollution. A continuous toss of blames that has been going on between the two parties for a while now.

In addition to this, Arvind Kejriwal also showed two pictures of how Delhi’s sky looked on September 30 and how it has changed now. He hinted at stubble burning that happens in the states of Punjab and Haryana and at the two governments in power there. He said that the only thing that has changed in the last one month is stubble burning.
