The force will be the first point of contact for distressed women and will counsel, guide and assist in the registration of cases against the offenders. The DGP said that no women will be left to suffer and will get justice. This is quite similar to the ‘One Stop centres’ launched by the Union Ministry for Women and Child Welfare.

The force will consist of senior and experienced policewomen who have dealt with crimes against women in their career.

It was Justice AN Mullah of the Allahabad High Court who had remarked that “the police force is the single largest lawless body in the country”. The AP Police hopes to ensure that its perceived as a friendly and professional force by launching such initiatives.

In the recent past, Andhra Pradesh CM Jaganmohan Reddy has launched many schemes for the development and empowerment of women.
