No exception to Kendriya Vidyalayas, must teach Kannada in the state: Education Minister of Karnataka

S Suresh Kumar, the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education of Karnataka has said that all schools including Kendriya Vidyalayas in the state must teach Kannada either as the first or second language.

In a report submitted by the Kannada Development Authority, it has been pointed out that about 44 schools in Bengaluru are not in compliance with the Kannada Language Learning Act, 2015 which mandates compulsory teaching of Kannada language either as the first or second language across all schools in the state.

The concerned Minister has instructed the officials of the department to carry out checks in these schools and submit a report by November 20th. The erring schools will face disaffiliation from the state government.

It has also been reported that a state level committee headed by the Minister will conduct surprise checks at schools to check whether the provisions of the law are being implemented and whether Kannada teachers have been hired.
