Mobile application-based cab hailing services, Uber’s licence has been suspended by the London transport authorities on Monday. The company will have to cease its business operations immediately.
The transport authorities said that there were unaddressed concerns related to passenger safety and security. It has said that some of the driver partners were unregistered and did not have the compulsory insurance.

The drivers had managed to manipulate the uber system and uploaded photographs which were unverified. This endangered passenger safety and security according to uber. Despites these concerns, over 1000 rides had been completed.
Earlier in 2017, Uber had lost its licence in the city of London. The court on appeal restored their licence which was recently renewed In September after imposing fresh restrictions. Uber can appeal this decision in a court within 21 days.
Uber has issued a statement denying the transport authorities’ contentions. They have said that they have improved the transport facilities in the London metropolitan area and will be resorting to legal measures to restore their business operations in the city.
Uber has been facing many quality and security issues around the world. In India, the recently passed Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act has brought such companies under the ambit of the law for the first time.
