Man disguised as Sikh to protest against CAA? Don’t believe this old video

Amid several protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, a video is doing rounds on social media in which cops can be seen taking off the turban of a Sikh man. It has been claimed that police caught a protestor who was dressed up as a Sikh.

The caption with the video read: “Muslim Using fake Sikh Sardar face to show that sikh are against #CAA Fake propaganda.”

FACT CHECK

Team of fact-checkers at NewsMobile checked the viral video and found the attached claim to be FAKE.

On putting the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, we came across the same video on YouTube dated 31st March 2011.

According to the YouTube caption, the video was shot on March 28th, 2011, when a Sikh youth’s turban was removed at Mohali Stadium by Punjab police officials.

Hence, the above information proves that the viral video is old and it is not from the recent protests over CAA.
