Iran finds black box from crashed Ukrainian plane

No survivors on Ukrainian jetliner that crashed shortly after takeoff from Tehran’s main airport on Wednesday with 167 passengers and nine crew members on board, AP quoted Iranian officials.

In the latest development, Ukraine’s embassy in Iran issued a new statement on the plane crash in Iran, omitting the mention of engine failure as the cause

Rescue teams were sent to an area near the airport where the Boeing 737 belonging to Ukraine International Airlines crashed, Reza Jafarzadeh, a spokesman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization told state television.

The crash came hours after Iran launched a ballistic missile attack targeting two bases in Iraq housing US forces in retaliation for the killing of Revolutionary Guard General Qassem Soleimani.
