Retail inflation jumps to 7.35% in December; RBI’s limit breached

Retail inflation rose to 7.35% in December 2019, crossing RBI’s target which was mainly due to increasing food prices, government data showed on Monday. The retail inflation in November was 5.54%.

As per the government data, food inflation rose to 14.12% in December and was 10.01% in November 2019.

The central government has mandated the Reserve Bank of India to keep inflation in the range of 4%.
