India on Thursday strongly lashed out at Pakistan and said that it has an opportunity to avoid facing global embarrassment and for this it should stop misusing international forums such as the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to raise the bilateral issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
Calling it a “desperate measure to present an alarming situation”, Raveesh Kumar, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs also called on China to reflect on this issue and the overall bilateral relations between India and China before entertaining a non -issue.
It was on Pakistan’s prodding that China called for a closed door meeting to discuss the issue of the situation in J&K. It has been widely reported that China found itself isolated as majority of the members objected to the discussion of a bilateral issue in the high- level global forum.

A Russian diplomat had confirmed that India and Pakistan were asked to sort out their differences through the Simla Declaration of 1972 and the Lahore Declaration of 1999.
The spokesperson also confirmed that India will be hosting the annual meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) later this year. On a question as to whether, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan will be invited, he said that an invitation will be extended to all member states, observers and international partners.
The growing stature of the Raisina Dialogue, an annual conference on Geo-Politics, jointly organized by the Ministry of External Affairs and ORF, was also highlighted.
This year 700 participants from 100 nations, over 7 former Heads of states and governments, 11 foreign ministers and 3 Secretary Generals of Foreign departments participated in the conference.
