Fact Check: This video of a massive explosion in China is not related to Coronavirus outbreak

A video of a huge explosion is making rounds on social media and it is being claimed that the video is from Wuhan and the Chinese government is killing its nationals to control the Coronavirus.

“This happened a few hours ago in Wuhan likely the Chinese government began to kill its own people to control the virus” description of the same video on Vimeo read.

NewsMobile fact-checked the above posts and we found that the claims attached to the video are false.

On putting the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, we came across the longer version of the video which was posted on YouTube on August 22nd, 2015. The headline of the video read: “Massive EXPLOSION in Tianjin (CHINA) – All angles”

On further investigation, we found that the video of explosion that took place on August 12, 2015, at a chemical warehouse in Tianjin in which at least 170 people were killed.

In conclusion, the above information confirms that the viral video is old and it has no relation with Coronavirus.
