The death toll from coronavirus in China on Friday reached 3,042 and the number of people infected with a novel virus in the country increased to 80,552.
Within the past 24 hours, 143 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed and 30 people have died of the disease.

While South Africa and Bhutan have also reported the first case of coronavirus.
“This morning, Thursday, March 5, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases confirmed that a suspected case of COVID-19 has tested positive,” Health Minister Zweli Mkhize tweeted.
The patient has been isolated in the COVID-19 hospital. He is kept on oxygen support considering his age and underlying conditions.
The patient was traveling with his partner, aged 59 along with 10 passengers on board, of which eight others were Indian nationals.
The eight Indian passengers have also been quarantined. The government is closely working with the Indian Embassy.
Also, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Iran reached 3,513 and the death toll from the infection rose to 107, Health Minister Saeed Namaki said on Thursday.
Iran is amongst the countries most affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
The novel coronavirus disease was first detected in Wuhan, China’s Hubei province, in late December 2019, and has since spread worldwide.
