A 69-year old woman on Friday who tested positive for the virus passed away in a Delhi hospital, said the Union health ministry and Delhi government officials.
This is the second confirmed death due to the virus. The first casualty took place on Thursday when a 78- year old man from Karnataka returned from Saudi Arabia.

The woman had contacted the virus from her son who has also tested positive and has a travel history of being to Italy and Switzerland. He returned to Delhi on February 23 and did not exhibit any symptoms. However, a subsequent test confirmed the presence of the virus in the samples collected.
The total number of affected people from coronavirus has risen to 82 in India on Friday as confirmed by the Union Health Ministry.
“A 76-year-old man from Kalaburgi who passed away and was a suspected COVID-19 patient has been confirmed positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing, isolation and other measures being taken. Telangana government has also been informed as he went to a hospital there,” news agency ANI quoted Commissioner, Karnataka Health Department as saying.
The man had a travel history to Saudi Arabia from January 29 – February 29. He reached back to Hyderabad on February 29 and went to Kalaburgi.
The World Health Organisation declared the novel coronavirus a pandemic.
