FAKE Alert: Old picture of Brazilian Prez shared as Italian President crying over COVID-19 outbreak

A picture of a man is making rounds on social media in which he can be seen in tears. It is being claimed that the man in the picture is Italian President who crying over the deaths due to Coronavirus.

The text with the picture read: “Look at crying face of Italy President. Italy has most advance health facilities but they failed coz their people taking it a joke. Please take it serious, stay home and pray for itlay people and for Humanity.”

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found that the claim attached to the picture is FAKE.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, it was established that the man in the picture is NOT the Italian President. He is actually the Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

On further investigation, we found that the picture was taken on December 17, 2019, when President Jair Bolsonaro participated in an evangelical Thanksgiving service at the Planalto Palace.

According to a report by Brazil’s Poder360, President Bolsonaro cried when he remembered the knife attack he suffered in Juiz de Fora (MG), during the 2018 election campaign.

Hence, the above information proves that the claim attached to the picture is FAKE.
