Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday had a telephonic conversation with US president Donald Trump on the COVID-19 pandemic and resolved to deploy the full strength of the India-US partnership to fight the pandemic.
“Had an extensive telephone conversation with President @realDonaldTrump. We had a good discussion, and agreed to deploy the full strength of the India-US partnership to fight COVID-19,” PM Modi said in a tweet.

PM Modi conveyed deep condolences for the loss of lives in the United States, and his prayers for early recovery of those still suffering from the disease.
Stressing the special relationship between the two countries, PM Modi reiterated India’s solidarity with the USA in overcoming this global crisis together.
PM Modi and US President Trump exchanged notes on the respective steps taken in each country for mitigating the health and economic impacts of the pandemic.
The two leaders also touched upon the significance of practices such as Yoga and Ayurveda (traditional Indian herbal medicine practice) for ensuring physical and mental well-being in these difficult times.
They agreed that their officials would remain in close touch with respect to the global COVID-19 crisis.
The US currently has 278,942 confirmed positive cases and the death toll, which has shown a steep trend recently stands at 7,174.

PM Modi also held a telephonic conversation with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. The two leaders discussed how the India and Brazil ‘can join forces against the COVID-19 panemic’.

As of Brazil, the number of confirmed positive cases stand at 9,244 with a death toll of 366.
India witnessed the largest spike in a day, with an increase of 525 cases in the last 24 hours. The number of COVID-19 cases in India crossed the 3000-mark and has now risen to 3,072, according to the figures released by the Health Ministry, with the death toll at 75.
While there are 2,784 active coronavirus cases, 212 people have been cured/discharged and one has migrated.
