COVID-19: China comes to a standstill for three minutes; mourns ‘martyrs’ of the virus

Date:

China on Saturday came to a standstill for three minutes as the nation maintained three minutes of silences for the 14 ‘martyrs’ who sacrificed their lives in the fight against the deadly virus.

At exactly 10 AM, people stood still for three minutes and cars, trains and ships then sounded their horns, air raid sirens rang as flags across the nation and all its diplomatic establishments across the world flew at half mast.

These 14 ‘martyrs’ have been identified as 12 Medical professionals, one policeman and one community worker.

These 14 people–all from the central province of Hubei– include Doctor Li Wenliang who warned the authorities of the outbreak of this virus in December. He was heavily censured by the authorities at that time.
