The number of Covid-19 cases in India rose by 505 in 24 hours to 3,577 overnight as testing picked up pace to check and contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

2. A spreading coronavirus pandemic infected 505 Indians in the last 24 hours, increasing the total count of Covid-19 cases in India to 3,577, latest data from the health ministry showed. This includes 3,219 active cases, 275 people who have been either cured, discharged or migrated, and 83 deaths.

The spike in Covid-19 cases in India is due to the infections that cropped up at Tablighi Jammat, the religious congregation that took place at Nizammuddin Dargah in Delhi between March 1 and March 15, the health ministry said today. “India added 472 cases since yesterday, with 11 additional deaths,” Joint Health Secretary Lav Agarwal briefed the media on Sunday.
