Date:

Yet again a few pictures of the Indian sub-continent are being shared on social media with a claim that NASA captured the picture on April 5 after people lit candles and diyas in support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 9 pm 9 minutes initiative.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the post to be very OLD. Let’s break it to make things simpler;

  1. This stunning image of India was not taken this year, it was not taken by NASA and it is not even a real photograph.

2. A Mashable report from 2012 says that this image ‘is a composite of satellite photos of India created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 2003.

Moreover, One of the other images in the lot was indeed released by NASA but in 2017.

The above information proves that none of the pictures are of 9 pm 9 minutes initiative.
