COVID-19: Top developments from Southern India this Tuesday afternoon

Here are the top COVID-19 related developments this Tuesday afternoon from the south of the Vindhyas:

1. The Centre has informed the Supreme Court that the dispute between Karnataka and Kerala has been resolved by the Union Home Secretary who has spoken to the Chief Secretaries of both the states.

Earlier in the day, Kerala CM announced that Karnataka will allow individuals from Kerala to enter the state, provided they have tested negative for the virus and carry certificates to this effect.

Karnataka also reserved its rights to conduct medical tests on individuals entering the state.

2. Karnataka Medical Education Minister has said that the state government will decide on extending the lockdown beyond 21 days after assessing the situation in the next few days. Bengaluru (Urban) and Mysuru have emerged as the hotspots in the state.

3. Over 3000 men and women from the NCC (Tamil Nadu and Puducherry unit) have been roped in to assist the authorities during this period of lockdown. They will extend aid to the civil authorities in fighting this virus.

4. The Tamil Nadu chapter of the All India Occupational Therapists Association has come forward to provide free online services to elders and children in the state and beyond.

5. The Telangana government has launched a WhatsApp chatbot to answer queries on COVID-19. The chatbot will answer basic queries on symptoms and provide information on medical services. The chatbot has been named as ‘TS Gov Covid info’.
