Date:

The US doesn’t seem to find any respite from the deadly coronavirus, as more than 1800 deaths have been recorded on Tuesday. This is the single largest number of recorded deaths in a single day in the US.

According to the Johns Hopkins University, the US has recorded nearly 13,000 deaths and around 398,000 cases and has truly emerged as the new epicentre.

This number has surpassed 1344 deaths recorded within a span of 24 hours on April 4.

New York is emerging as the single worst affected hotspot in the US. The number of positive cases is expected to cross Italy soon.

New York has shut down completely and Hospitals and diagnostic centres are running in full, prompting fears of inadequate infrastructure hampering the recovery efforts.

In what is a worrying sign, many stages in the US are refusing to shut down and the state of Wisconsin even held elections on Tuesday.

US President Donald Trump has lashed out at the World Health Organization and threatened it of snapping all financial assistance. He accused it of protecting Chinese interests.

Elsewhere in the world, the Chinese province of Wuhan has ended all forms of restrictions and opened up the province after over close to three months of enforced lockdown.
