Fact Check: Did a RSS member beat a cop in UP during lockdown? Here’s the truth

A picture is being shared on social media with a claim that a cop was beaten up by a RSS member in Uttar Pradesh.

At the time of filing the report, the above post had around 4,000 shares on Facebook.

FACT CHECK 

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the claim to be misleading.

We put the image through Reverse Image Search and found that the picture was taken in 2017.

According to a report by The Mirror, in 2017, a girl was allegedly raped in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Jagriti Hospital in Kanpur. These pictures were taken when an angry mob rioted and attacked the police.

Moreover, we did not find any recent credible report of police being beaten up any RSS member in UP.

Hence, from the above information, we can conclude that the viral news is false.
