Fact Check: Video of mock drill in Bihar shared with misleading claim related to COVID-19

Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, a video is doing rounds on social media in which a policeman in uniform, can be seen lying on the ground, while others are helping him. It has been claimed that the cop in the video had contracted Coronavirus.

The caption of the video reads: “Bettiya mein Corona Attack”

NewsMobile fact-checked the above video and we found that the claim attached to the video is FAKE.

We extracted the keyframes of the video through InVid and put them through Reverse Image Search along with keywords such as ‘Bettiah’, ‘Bihar’, ‘Police’. The search results led us to a news report by Jagran dated April 11, 2020, with one of the stills from the above video.

The report suggested that the video is of a mock drill which was conducted on April 9, 2020, to assess the preparedness to deal with Coronavirus outbreak in Bihar’s Bettiah.

In conclusion, the above information clarifies that the cop in the video did not contract COVID-19.
