Dr. Manjeet Singh Riyat, an Indian origin Doctor from Derbyshire is the latest victim in this battle against COVID-19. Fondly remembered by his colleagues and his friends as someone who was passionate about teaching and a great supervisor.
Dr. Riyat is the first Sikh Accident and Emergency consultant in the National Health Service. He secured his medical qualifications from the University of Leicester. He is instrumental in building the Accident and Emergency service in Derbyshire.

The Chief Executive of the Hospital said: “I want to pay tribute to Mr. Manjeet Riyat, who has sadly passed away. He was an incredibly charming person and he was loved. Manjeet knew so many people here in the hospital, we will miss him immensely”.
His passion for teaching and emergency services throughout his career is what his colleagues said they will remember forever.
He leaves behind a wife and two sons.
Indians and Indian origin Doctors have been at the forefront of this battle against the virus.
Amongst others, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Rathod, Sophie Fagan and Pooja Sharma are some of the other Doctors who passed away earlier in this month.
