How Kazakhstan built a COVID-19 hospital within 2 weeks?

Within just 13 days, a new modular infectious diseases hospital for treatment of the COVID-19 patients has been built in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan.

It was assembled out of modular blocks using the technologies for constructing prefabricated buildings. The clinic, designed for 200 beds, is equipped with modern equipment to ensure the safety of medical staff and patients.


The hospital complies with all the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO). The total area of the hospital comprises 7,000 square metres. 5.5 billion tenges (USD 12.7 million) was allocated from the national budget for its construction.

The new hospital was visited by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He held a meeting with the hospital staff and examined the medical units and wards, equipped with all the necessary equipment for treating patients.

So far, Kazakhstan has reported more than 2,300 positive COVID-19 cases, including 560 people who have recovered and 24 deaths.
