Fact Check: Are these sadhus marching towards Maharashtra in aftermath of Palghar mob lynching? Here’s the truth

Date:

Amidst the uproar after the April 16 Palgarh mob lynching, a video is widely being circulated over the internet in which several hundred Sadhus can be seen marching together.

It is being claimed that the Sadhus are marching towards Maharashtra and will reach there on May 3.

The caption of the video read: “महाराष्ट्र सरकार यह तूफान क्या रोक पाएगी.. 3 मई को नगा साधु पहुंचने वाले हैं… सावधान!”

(Translation- Would the Maharashtra government be able to stop this storm .. Naga Sadhus are about to reach on 3 May… Caution!)

The above video, at the time of filing, had more than 30,350 shares on Facebook.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked this video and found that the claims attached to it false.

On putting the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search we came across the same video posted on a YouTube page ‘Apna Awadh’ published on April 19, 2019.

According to the caption, the video shows the congregation of Sadhus during the famous Kumbha Mela held in 2019 at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Though NewsMobile cannot independently verify the origin of the video, however, it is clear that the video is old and it was shot much before the Palgarh incident took place.
