COVID-19: ‘Bored’ truck drivers and a game of cards leads to 40 fresh cases in AP

Date:

The lockdown may be resulting in increased boredom in people, but it is not the only thing that is increasing. Carelessness by two truck drivers in Andhra Pradesh has resulted in 40 people testing positive for COVID-19.

One truck driver in the Krishna Lanka locality of Krishna district in the state decided to play a game of cards with his neighbours to beat the lockdown blues. The womenfolk of the locality played a game of Tambola.

The Collector of the District A Mohammad Imtiaz said that due to this negligence now, 24 fresh cases have been reported.

In another case in the Karmika Nagar locality of the state, another truck driver walked around the market and spoke to his neighbours. Now 16 fresh cases have been reported from that district.

Lack of social distancing norms and lax enforcement of lockdown measures is being seen as a reason why the district has reported close to 40 positive cases.

The state of Andhra Pradesh has reported over 1,000 cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
