1. The total number of cases across the world now stands at 3,344,099 while the death toll stands at 238,663. On a positive note, about 238,663 people have recovered.

2. COVID-19 deaths in the United States of America climbed by 1,883 in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases now stands at 1,103,781 while the death toll is at 64,956.

3. US approves Gilead’s remdesivir drug for coronavirus patients, says US President Donald Trump.

4. United Kingdom’s COVID-19 death toll up by 739 to 27,510 as per AFP news agency quoting the health minister.

5. US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo on Friday said he was excited to see what India-US partnership “brings to help fight COVID-19”

6. Sweden-based climate activist Greta Thunberg has announced that she was donating USD 100,000 in prize money she had received from the Danish NGO Human Act to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support their work in protecting children hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

7. Germany’s coronavirus death toll hits 6,575. The number of confirmed cases rose by 945 to 161,703, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed on Saturday.

8. South Korea reports single digit infections for fourth day: South Korea reported six more cases of the new coronavirus on Saturday, bringing the nation’s total infections to 10,780, according to Yonhap news agency.

9. Singapore announced on Saturday that it will ease some restrictions in the country, allowing some businesses to operate starting on May 12.
