Fact Check: Old video of air show by Italian Air Force shared as that of Indian Air Force

Date:

A video is doing the rounds on the internet in which some planes can be seen spraying colours in the sky. It is being claimed that Indian Air Force planes are painting the sky with the colours of our national flag.

The video was shared on May 3, 2020, when Indian armed forces saluted Corona warriors by spraying flowers from planes and lighting up warships and showed their gratitude towards healthcare personnel and other people who are in the frontline.

The caption of the post read: “आकाश से लेकर समुद्र तक आर्मी ही आर्मी🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
जय हिन्द🇮🇳, भारत भारत 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

(Translation- From the skies to the oceans, the Indian army is everywhere.)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.

On putting the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, we came across a tweet by the Italian Air force dated March 12, 2020, featuring the same video.

“Unity and teamwork have always been the principles on which our Armed Force is based and, at this moment more than ever, are fundamental. And then, as the @FrecceTricolori ‘team’ 💪🏻 let’s join forces 🏋🏻, together we can do it”, the tweet read.

We also found a report by The Daily Mail mentioning about the air display by Italian Air Force on May 11, 2020.

According to the report, the Italian Air Force put out the incredible air display to lift the spirits of the nation during the coronavirus lockdown.

Hence, the above information establishes that the video in question is NOT from India.
