Fact Check: 2019 video of crowd at Territorial Army recruitment camp shared as ‘Migrants at UP border’

Date:

Amid the ongoing migrant crisis due to the Coronavirus-induced lockdown, a video is being shared on social media with a claim that it is of migrant workers at the UP border.

“Migrants at the UP border 😟” the caption read.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video and found the claim to be false as the video is OLD.

We extracted the keyframes of the video using InVid and put them through Reverse Image Search.

We found the extended version of the same video on YouTube, dated October 16, 2019. The title read ‘Faizabad TA rally bharti 15 oct 2019’.

We ran a search using relevant keywords and found a news report by UP Tak dated October 15, 2020.

“The youngsters who arrived in Ayodhya for the recruitment of the Territorial Army created a fierce panic on Tuesday morning. Road signboards were uprooted and vandalized. During this time, the policemen used mild force to control the situation (translated), ” the video description read on Hindi.

Hence, from the above information, we can deduce that video is old and has no relation to the ongoing migrant crisis.
