Over 67.34 lakh people have been infected with the COVID-19 worldwide and over 3.94 lakh have died. However, 27.46 people have been recovered from the virus.

Here are the top 10 global developments this morning:

1. In a bid to improve standards of global health, the G20 nations have pledged $21 billion towards the fight to eradicate COVID-19.

2. The US recorded 922 deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. It remains the worst-affected by the pandemic, according to Johns Hopkins University tally.

3. The World Health Organization has issued new guidance advising people aged over 60 or with health issues to wear a medical-grade mask when they are out and cannot physically distance.

4. China recorded three new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, down from five the day before, the national health authority reported.

5. The UK has become the second country with 40,000 recorded COVID-19 deaths, following the US.

6. Mexico on Friday reported an additional 4,346 cases of the novel coronavirus in the country as well as 625 new deaths, bringing the country’s confirmed total to 110,026 cases and 13,170 deaths.

7. Authorities in California have said that Live Sports and film productions can restart from June 12.

8. Sweden has recorded over 1,000 new cases on the third consecutive day.

9. Brazil reported 1,005 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the South American nation has crossed 30,900.

10. Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack has said China’s warning of racist attacks for visitors to Australia is a “moot point” because the borders are still closed.
