COVID-19 | Top 10 developments in India this Monday morning

India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 2,56,611 on Monday after 9,983 new cases — highest single-day spike– were reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll now stands at 7,135, an increase of 206 deaths.

The country has now 1,25,381 active cases and 1,24,095 people have been cured/discharged so far.

Here are the top 10 developments in India this morning:

1. Malls, restaurants and religious places will open their doors for people in several parts of the country on Monday.

2. The Union Culture Ministry on Sunday approved the opening of 820 monuments under Archeological Survey of India which have places of worship from Monday.

3. 3,007 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 91 deaths recorded in Maharashtra on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 85,975 and death toll to 3,060. Number of active cases stands at 43591: Maharashtra Health Department

4. A senior Press Information Bureau (PIB) official tested positive for COVID-19, National Media Centre closed today for sanitisation.

5. 1,515 more COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths reported in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. Total number of cases in the state is now at 31,667, including 14,396 active cases, 16,999 discharged and 269 deaths: State Health Department

6. 1,282 more COVID-19 cases reported in Delhi on Sunday. Total number of cases in the national capital is now at 28,936, including 17,125 active cases, 10,999 recovered/discharged and 812 deaths: Delhi Health Department

7. “In the Cabinet meeting it was decided that private hospitals in Delhi and Delhi govt hospitals will be reserved for the people of Delhi. Central government hospitals will be open for the country. The private hospitals can take patients who have come for special surgeries,” CM Kejriwal said.

8. 107 more COVID-19 cases reported in Kerala on Sunday, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 1,095: Chief Minister’s Office

9. Highest spike of 620 more COVID-19 cases reported in J&K on Sunday. Total number of cases in the UT is now at 4,087, including 2,830 active cases, 1,216 recovered and 41 deaths: J&K Government

10. 433 more COVID-19 cases and seven deaths reported in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Total number of cases in the state is now at 10536, including 6,185 discharged, 4,076 active cases and 275 deaths: State Health Department
