Another incident of temples being vandalised in Andhra Pradesh has come to light in which some unidentified persons allegedly damaged a Goddess Sita idol at Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple. The temple organisers found the damaged idol at the temple on Sunday.
The incident was brought to the knowledge of the local police who then rushed to the spot and the security at the shrine was increased. Soon after, BJP and TDP Activists staged a protest against the growing number of attacks on temples in the state.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vikrant Patil, visited the Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple and spoke with the caretaker of the holy place.
“Additional forces have been deployed in the locality along with Krishnalanka police. The situation at Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple is peaceful. We are investigating the incident from all angles,” a police officer said.
Former Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao along with other leaders staged a dharna asking for the arrest of the accused persons. However, the protesters called off their agitation after assurance from the DCP that a case will be registered and the culprits will be found and punished.
