FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.

We extracted the keyframes of the video and ran it through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to the YouTube video uploaded by ABP News in May, 2018.

“Man spreads water on wheat sack to increase its weight”, the title of the video read.

According to the video, the incident took place in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, where a man was pouring water on sacks of wheat to increase their weight.

The video also stated that the matter was being investigated by the Fatehabad Market Committee, who reportedly found that a trader from Fatehabad Mandi was mixing water in the food grains to earn more profit.

The incident was also reported by The Times of India, Punjab Kesari and News 18 Hindi.

The above fact check proves that the video in circulation is OLD and has no relation with the ongoing farmers’ protest.
