A picture post of Prime Minister Narendra Modi wearing a shawl and a screenshot of an expensive shawl on Ahujasons website is doing the rounds on the internet. It is being claimed that PM Modi is sporting a shawl that costs Rs 2 lakh.
A Facebook user shared the post with a caption, ‘पेट्रोल ₹100 के पार, सिलेंडर₹800 पार क्योंकि शॉल भी तो महंगा है यार!’
(Translation- Petrol crosses ₹100, cylinder crosses ₹800 because the shawl is too expensive)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found that the claim is fake.
We ran a Reverse Image Search on the picture and found the picture on the verified Facebook profile of Vijay Kumar Sinha, the speaker of Bihar Vidhan Sabha.
The caption of the picture read, “Met my guardian, the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, at the Prime Minister’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, Delhi. I received positive and loving guidance from him.” (Translated from Hindi)
In the picture, it can be clearly seen that the shawl was gifted to PM Modi by Vijay Kumar Sinha.
Further, we looked for the shawl on the website and found the same product listed on Ahujasons website priced at Rs 199,500.
On comparing both the shawls we found that the shawl gifted to PM Modi is not the one listed on the website.
The above collage clearly shows that both the shawls are different.
NewsMobile independently could not find the cost of the shawl but based on the above information, we can say that PM Narendra Modi was not sporting a Rs 2 lakh Ahujasons shawl as claimed in the viral post.
