After recent clashes took place in Telangana’s Bhainsa following which strict curfew was imposed from March 8, a few pictures showing the aftermath of violence started doing rounds on social media.
A Facebook user shared the pictures with the caption, ‘In a case of deliberate, large-scale violence, a Muslim mob attacked members of the Hindu community and looted and burnt their property in Bhainsa town of Telangana.The Muslim mobs on a rampage also pelted stones at police who rushed to the spot. #SaveHindusOfBhainsa’.

We cropped the pictures and searched them individually and found that all the pictures in circulation are old.

We put the first picture through Reverse Image Search and found the picture on the Getty Images website. The picture was taken on February 26, 2020, during riots in Delhi.

On putting the second image through Reverse Image Search, we found the picture on the Outlook website. The title of the photo gallery read, “Delhi Violence”.
“Security personnel stand guard near a neighbourhood vandalised by rioters during clashes between those against and those supporting the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in northeast Delhi,” the caption read.
This picture was also taken in February 2020 during clashes in northeast Delhi.

On putting the third image through Reverse Image Search, we found the picture in a report by The New Indian Express dated January 13, 2020. The headline of the report read, “Communal tensions escalate in Telangana’s Bhainsa town, 18 houses set on fire.”

On putting the image of the vehicle through Reverse Image Search, we found the image on The News Minute dated January 15, 2020. The title of the video read, ‘Ground report: In Telangana’s Bhainsa, uneasy calm prevails after clash’.
The image is also from the clashes that took place in Telangana’s Bhainsa last year.
This proves that all the pictures are old and not related to the recent clashes in Telangana.
